“Behold the first simulated convertible top! 1949 was the year that several car companies got the bright idea to employ the pillar-less side glass designed for convertibles to a hard-top as a styling element. Buick’s Riviera series is often credited as the first production “hardtop” model. Kaiser went GM one better by applying the hardtop concept to a four door and covering the roof with convertible-look nylon fabric. Unlike the GM models, though, achieving the pillar-less look required removing a B-pillar glass panel by undoing five screws. Lending some credibility to this four-door simulated convertible, however, is the fact that Kaiser did offer a true four-door convertible at the very tail end of 1949.

This is a very rare, extremly rare 625 ever built in 1949. As per a Barrett Jackson Ad for one that sold for $38,900
