“1953 Willys Aero Falcon Sedan
Serial 653-PB1 12589
Very original, not a show car but it is a fun driver, very rare, and turns heads. People will pull up or walk up and talk to you when you drive this car, and it gets plenty of interesting looks and thumbs ups.

I recently drove this car over 1,000 miles from Joliet, IL to Boulder, CO. I don’t drive daily, but this is my regular driver. I am selling it to buy a truck for winter and hauling motorcycles. This is a simple car that is easy to work on. The drivetrain and various other electrical and mechanical components are common to Willys Jeeps from the same era which helps with parts availability of a very rare car. The car is in good shape, having mostly been stored indoors for decades. There is some surface rust, but no holes through, even when looking under the car on a lift.

Flathead inline-6 L-161 Willys engine, also used in Jeepsters and Jeep station wagons
3 speed manual, column shift, has overdrive for highway speeds (have had it up to 70mph)
1 barrel Carter YF carburetor rebuilt in 2016, could use a retune, it idles too fast

Comes with a reprint of the Mechanic’s Manual, and an original Willys Passenger Car Parts List book
Full size spare tire in trunk
(5) Firestone F560 Radial Tires (165R15) purchased 2016, less than 2000 miles wear. Driver’s side has a slow leak from not seating on the wheel clean
Vacuum wiper motor disconnected, comes with it and an electric kit
Driver’s side of windshield has a crack in the glass
The engine runs hot, it likely needs the thermostat replaced or the water pump rebuilt (kaiserwillys-dot-com has a rebuild service)
Paint is in fair condition, it’s a repaint by a previous owner with some imperfections and scratches.
Comes with 5 Willys chrome hubcaps
Headliner could use attention or replacement
No tears in seats
Door panels are in fair condition, driver’s door is roughest
Lights work, windows roll down or tilt open, door mechanisms work
Hood has a small bend on passenger side
Fuel gauge does not give a correct reading (reads E when full, half when near empty)
19 mpg average
NOS replacement park brake cable included, not installed
2nd gear is a bit hard to find, shift linkage may need adjustment
Comes with original oil bath air cleaner as well as modern dry element air filter

Would consider trade or partial trade for 50s-60s truck with *manual* transmission, 4×4 and v8 or diesel preferred, or mopeds or vintage motorcycles.
